Are your taxes done?  If not, why not? 

The Financial Manager

You are the owner, the financial manager, and it's your responsibility to get 'er done.  Perhaps your accountant is unresponsive?  Nail him or her down.  Make your intentions clear.  This month’s video shares 3 tips for holding your CPA, and yourself, accountable.  Here are your goals for working together…

  1. You have your tax returns done, with a sound tax strategy in place.
  2. You are operating at a Known Financial Position - current, accurate reports - using your in-house accounting system.
  3. These are accomplished by 3.5.2012.

Make sure you are not the hold up.  Work with your CPA to get your tax info pulled together.

Within every economy are micro-economies...lovely pockets of business opportunity. In your industry (waste treatment and septic systems) there are folks with money willing to pay someone to keep them from being knee deep in you-know-what. 

The best things you can do regarding the economy: Ignore the national picture and focus on your own business.  Get better at marketing and sales. 

Recently, I hosted a training event.  As talk turned to the economy, I asked the group, “Who here has taken a sales class, read a book about sales or listened in on a sales webinar?” Not one person raised his hand.
